Questions to ask before you buy cover

1. Is there a waiting period?

Many policies only pay for some events after you have paid for a set number of months. Ask how long, and what is covered during that time.

2. Who exactly is covered?

Check which family members are included, any age limits, and what you need to do to add or remove someone.

3. What is not covered?

Every policy has exclusions. Ask for them in writing and read them before you sign.

4. Can the premium change?

Ask whether the premium rises each year or at certain ages, and by how much.

5. How are claims paid?

Ask what documents a claim needs, how long payment usually takes and who to contact.
