What an indicative estimate means

Why the figure in the chat can differ from the lender's offer.

What it is

An indicative estimate is a rough example of how much you could borrow and over how long, worked out from the pay and deductions you told us and the amount you asked about.

What it is not

  • It is not an offer or an approval.
  • It is not a credit check: we do not check your credit record.
  • It does not include every fee a lender may charge.

Why the lender's answer can differ

The lender checks your documents, your existing commitments and its own lending rules. It may offer a different amount, term or price, or decline. Only the lender can make you an offer.
